Randy Sample speaks to Western Mass News about how to buy the right firewood for your home this winter.
SPRINGFIELD, MA (WGGB/WSHM) –
Colder weather and a chance of flurries, or more, are now in the forecast.
As homeowners crank up the heat, local companies that sell firewood are getting slammed with calls for deliveries.
Firewood is still a big business in western Massachusetts and it can be costly for consumers.
“We’re moving a lot of wood right now. The temperatures are helping us and it’s a good time to get prepared and to have that wood inside and stacked and and ready for when you need it,” said Randy Sample, owner of Arbortech Tree Services.
Sample said that calls for firewood this week are definitely heating up. With prices for a cord of wood in the area ranging from about $200 to $300, he admitted that it can be difficult for customers to know exactly what they’re paying for.
Is it fresh cut wood, what you don’t want? Or it sufficiently seasoned?
